Cochise is Little Joe's beautiful Paint Horse with spotting pattern of white and black. The horse is named after the famous Indian Cochise. Little Joe is very fond of it and both go trough thick and thin. In "The Crucible" Little Joe even shares his cup of coffee with it.

Paint horses usually are muscular animals that are heavy but not too tall. Their maneuverability and powerful hindquarters make them suitable for rapid acceleration and sprinting - necessary qualities for cowboys who have to drive cattle.
