Summary

Ross Marquette's behavior over the past few months can't be easily explained -- beating his wife, rustling cattle, robbing a stage, killing a man. Adam is determined to find out why his friend is acting so strangely before it's too late.

Plot

Adam's old friend Ross Marquette, always a level-headed man, suddenly begins behaving erratically. He beats his wife, Delphine, after accusing her of having an affair with Adam, and he's involved with a gang of robbers and cattle thieves.

Adam brings Delphine back to the Ponderosa for her own safety, wondering if Ross is suffering from insanity.
